Your child has a unique learning style
Every child learns differently—especially when they are young. The way a young mind learns, processes, and retains information is unique from child to child and experts refer to these differences as ‘learning styles'.
Have you noticed your own child learning in different ways? The more you observe your child, the more you will begin to identify their strengths, likes, and dislikes. This may give you a window into your child’s preferred learning style.
Learning programs should adapt to your child’s level and needs
As your child learns new skills, you want them to embrace their strengths and also challenge themselves to grow. The BYJU’S Learning App featuring Disney understands that your child needs a variety of learning experiences to help them develop as a life-long learner. To make this possible, our Recommendation Engine helps your child discover and explore grade-level activities on the app based on how they interact on the app.
How the BYJU’S Learning App featuring Disney personalizes learning journeys to create a unique experience for your child
The world map on the home screen has chapters, each representing different learning topics every time you launch the app. This is where your child’s adaptive learning journey starts. The recommendation engine suggests chapters and topics your child should prioritize based on their learning style, how they interact with the app, and their proficiency score.
Let’s take a closer look at the different chapters on the home screen. Each chapter is devoted to a learning skill or topic, like addition, and within each topic you can find tasks, like lessons or quizzes, to help your child build their conceptual understanding of the chosen topic.
Milestones or learning markers measure your child’s progress as they move through each task on their way to developing a new skill. In addition to milestones, each learning task or activity, like an interactive quiz or lesson, comes with a proficiency score. The score helps the program assess your child’s performance and in turn, allows the recommendation engine to suggest other learning topics and activities that suit your child’s strengths and areas of development.
For example, if your child tackles a topic like Numbers 0-9 in the Number Sense chapter and attains a high score, they are then recommended Lines and Shapes. Through this, the recommendation engine ensures your child is exposed to varying levels of the subject matter so they are constantly developing their skills.
If your child gets a low proficiency score on any of the tasks in one topic, the recommendation engine suggests the previous topic so they can review and strengthen their understanding of the subject matter. It gives them the option to move to similar skills within the same difficulty level—this means your child progresses to the next level once they have a through understanding of the current topic.
In addition to recommending what to learn and explore on the world map, the engine also tracks your child’s favorite activities, so they can always go back to the topics they like the most.
It is vital that learning be balanced
As children grow up, they rely on many different skills like reasoning, spatial awareness, critical thinking, creative thinking, communicating, and collaborating. It’s important that they acquire these skills through the right stages of their growth and development.
BYJU’S Learning recommendation engine helps your child learn these important skills not only in a planned and thorough manner but also in a way that suits their learning style. So, help your child build confidence and enthusiasm with exposure to new skills!
