Kids love masks—be it Halloween or costume day in school! From their favorite superheroes to animals of the jungle, they love to wear masks goof around, and it’ll be so fun for your kids to make their own.
So, let's make these super simple DIY animal masks together at home!
Elephant mask
You will need:
White A4 sheet or white cardstock
Acrylic paint/crayons (pink, black, blue)
Transparent tape
Elastic string
Scissors
Hole punch
Steps:
Print out the mask template on and paste it on cardstock
Paint all the pieces—blue for the face and trunk, pink for ears and tongue, and black for the rest of the mouth
Let the paint dry, and then cut out all the pieces
Cut out the holes for the eyes
Place transparent tape over the marked holes to reinforce it (tape the holes from front to back)
Punch holes on the pair of circles
Glue the ears and trunk. Glue only the top of the trunk so the mouth is visible when you lift it up
Tie a knot on the back of the mask around the hole with elastic string
There you have it! Wear your elephant mask and make practice trumpet sounds.
Lion mask
You will need:
Paper plates
Yellow, orange, and brown colored sheets
Scissors
Glue
Steps:
Cut the center part of a paper plate to make a hole big enough to fit your child's face
Cut the yellow, orange, and brown paper into multiple strips
Glue the paper strips around the rim of the paper plate in brown, yellow, and orange order. (you can choose any order of colors)
Roll the end of each strip into small curls. You can use crayons to roll the strips
That's it! You're done. Now use the lion mask to act out a story or simply ROARRR!!!
Bear mask
You will need:
Paper plate
A stick, twig, or straw
Scissors
Paint (brown)
Black permanent marker
Glue
Steps to do it:
Cut the paper plate in half
Cut two penny-sized holes for the eyeson one half of the paper plate
Use the other half to cut out 3 ritz-cracker-sized circles—two bear ears and one mouth
Paint the paper plate with eye holes brown
Paint ears white in the middle and brown on the border (as shown in the picture)
Glue the ears behind the paper plate and the mouth below the eyes in the center
Draw an inverted triangle with a black marker for the bear's nose
Glue the stick or a straw to the back on one end of the plate to hold it up
You got yourself a bear mask. You can even make a rabbit or fox using the same technique. Have fun!
