Sight words, or high-frequency words, are words that appear repeatedly or frequently in a text and can be read with little or no effort.

To know more about the importance of sight words and fun ways to teach sight words to your children, check out our blog here- Sight words and ways to teach them to kids

This blog will discuss an easy DIY for parents to help their kids learn sight words better.

What your child learns from the DIY:

  • Common sight words
  • Develop vocabulary skills
  • Recollection of words based on the clues
  • Hand-eye coordination

How to DIY a sight word puzzle?

What you need:

  • Colorful popsicle sticks
  • Black marker

 Steps for the DIY:

  • Make pairs of colorful popsicle sticks, like a pair of orange, red, yellow, purple, and so on.
  • Hold them together, side by side, and write common sight words across both sticks.
  • Once all the sight words are written, place in a container and mix them all together.
  • Ask your child to pick a popsicle stick, and based on the half-written word, ask them to find the other half of the word.

If your child has trouble understanding this activity, you can give them examples by picking a popsicle stick and holding it together with its other half.

There you go! Easy popsicle stick sight word puzzle is ready for your child to play.
