Valentine’s Day love jar | DIY for kids

It is the month of love!

We might think of Valentine’s Day as a romantic day for couples, but this day of love could also become a super fun holiday to get your child’s creative juices flowing. How?  

Remember our Finger painting: the handprint tree? Instead of using single-finger prints, apply paint on your child’s thumb and let them print their finger on the paper twice on the same spot in a V-shape, and you get a heart, and the seasonal tree has now become a love tree.

With Valentine’s Day upon us, here is a fun DIY for your child—a love jar. You can help your child make this Valentine’s love jar for their special one to whom they want to give this jar full of sweet messages on Valentine’s Day.

How to make a Valentine’s love jar 

Things you need:

• Printable template
• Scissors
• Glue
• Black/colorful pen
• Optional: glitters, confetti for decoration

Steps for the DIY Valentine’s love jar:

• Download and print the template
• Cut out the hearts.
• Complete the sentence, “I love you because…” on the hearts
• Paste the hearts inside the jar 

There you have it! Your own Valentine’s Love Jar. Your child can gift this to their Valentine, and even you can give this love jar to your child, your partner, or anyone you want to tell reasons for loving them.

Suggestions for your child to complete the sentences on the hearts:

• “I love you because you’re kind.”
• “I love you because you make me laugh.”
