"Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'' - Martin Luther King Jr.

When do we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day?

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is celebrated yearly, on the third Monday of January, throughout the United States of America. This year Martin Luther King Jr. Day falls on January 16, 2023.

Why do we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day?

MLK day is a celebration of the life and work of Dr. King and to reflect upon his teachings, struggles, and his persistence that sowed the seeds of creating a society where all people live together in harmony. It is also a way to look at the efforts that still need to be taken for racial equality everywhere.

An advocate of Mahatma Gandhi’s principles of nonviolent resistance to execute social change, Dr. King was best known for his relentless efforts for equality and was instrumental in spurring the national conscience. He played an important role in ending racial segregation in the United States.

As we’re observing Martin Luther King Jr. on January 16 this year, it’d be an excellent opportunity to introduce your child to Dr. King and his legacy.

We have created an infographic you can download and read to your child. The infographic tells the story of a lifetime of unwavering efforts and the change Martin Luther King Jr. helped bring to the country.
